We are fundraising in memory of our Mother, Marie Smith.

Mum passed peacefully at The Alfred ICU of, Rhinocerebral Mucormycosis.

Rhinocerebral Mucormycocsis is rare opportunistic infection of the sinuses, nasal passages, oral cavity, and brain caused by Saprophytic Fungi.
As this is a rare infection, we support further research into the disease in hope to improve earlier detection, treatment and survival outcomes and for a better understanding of the infection in general.
Right now, we just want to help The Alfred ICU in thanks for their incredible care and compassion of Mum at such a difficult and uncertain time for our family. The
Quality of their care and willingness to inform and comfort us every step of her treatment, was truly second to none. We are so thankful for this.
