Story
We are the friends of Anagha Bapat, daughter of Jayant and Sunanda Bapat, who had a double transplant operation at St Vincent's Hospital, Sydney, 24 years ago. At that time the Alfred Hospital transplant unit was being set up. When Anagha moved to Melbourne, for many years she was looked after by the lung transplant team at the Alfred Hospital. She was one of Australia's longest-surviving double lung transplant patients. She had several ups and downs- her longevity can be attributed to her strong will-power. She died on Tuesday night 6th October. We wish to celebrate her life by creating a donation fund for the Alfred Hospital lung transplant research team. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her as a lively, determined and very brave woman who valiantly fought the complications of her condition for many years.
